2005 Honda Accord Hybrid
Nov 23rd
Honda’s Accord has a well-deserved reputation as the Dell or Hewlett-Packard PC of the automotive world, offering years of largely maintenance-free, high-tech service without any pesky need to know exactly how it works. The Accord doesn’t talk to you, and doesn’t want to; it wants to go about its business and leave you free to go about yours.
Had it not been our job to do so, we might not have even noticed that the last Accord to grace the test fleet was a hybrid-electric car. Following in the footsteps of the Honda Insight and Civic Hybrid, the new-for-2005 Accord Hybrid brings improved fuel efficiency to the middle class. 2005 Toyota Avalon

The Avalon has always been one of the wallflowers of the Toyota lineup. Larger than the Camry, this big front-drive sedan has done well among the retired set since its introduction in the mid-1990s. It’s an American-style sedan built by a Japanese manufacturer. The new Avalon may be the most “American” Toyota yet (with the possible exception of the Tundra pickup), because it’s designed for the North American market, and built here as well. More >
2005 Suzuki Verona
Nov 7th
The all-new Suzuki Verona is your basic Polite Family Car. It’s a conservative, low-priced alternative to the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, and that’s all it wants to be. This is Suzuki’s first entry in the midsize category, and incidentally the largest Suzuki car ever.
Under the skin, this Japanese family sedan’s got Korean DNA, borrowed from defunct-in-the-U.S. Daewoo. The Verona gets a thorough restyling, as well as the support of a larger dealer network, and keeps its attractively low price. More >
