0Being the flagship of a luxury brand is a cakewalk; you get all of the best stuff crammed into a single package, and your over-the-top nature is more than enough to justify your existence. The lower-priced luxury cars have a harder time of it.
There’s a careful balance that needs to be struck between representing the marque’s core values and attributes and remaining reasonably-priced enough that the riffraff won’t think that all the budget went into the badge. 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
0Although it lacks the iconic status of the Wrangler, Jeep’s Grand Cherokee remains a vital part of the lineup. It’s the Jeep most people are more likely to have met, after all. It’s got the same off-road capable design as anything else with a seven-slot grille, but the comfortable, domesticated Grand Cherokee is most likely to be found prowling the suburbs instead of the backwoods. Its civilized appointments and excellent poor-weather handling have made it a favorite among mid-size SUVs.
In 2004 the Grand Cherokee got a redesign, with an all-new, boxier face, better-handling suspension and the powerful HEMI V8 under the hood. For 2005 this familiar SUV remains the same, with the addition of stability enhancements and slightly improved fuel efficiency. (more…)
2011 Buick Regal
0Remember the Buick Regal? It’s okay if you don’t; though it was in production from 1973 to 2004, it was always the runt of the Buick litter. Though it was a brisk seller, it spent the last decade of its production run virtually unchanged, and became a rental-fleet mainstay before being quietly retired.

Don’t look now, but the Regal is back, and if you’ve forgotten about the previous model, you’re already on the right page, because the new Regal is a thoroughly different animal. It’s still the entry-level Buick, but the injection of a bit of Chinese into the mix makes it a refreshing blend of expected and unexpected. The all-new Regal features all-new styling, a pair of efficient four-cylinder engines and the brand’s signature comfort, and it’s the next step in Buick’s revitalization. (more…)
